Facts for 2014's #101-200

The 2014 Hottest 100's list of places for #101 - 200 is the list of songs that didn't make the final 100 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2014.

The Countdown

The Hottest 100 of 2014 countdown took place in January of 2015. For the third time since the countdown began, a second Hottest 100 countdown was held after the original countdown, in which the songs which reached #101-200 were counted down as a normal Hottest 100 would be. The countdown was on February 1st 2015, almost a week after the original countdown.

At #157, Hilltop Hoods charted with 'The Art Of The Handshake'. The lyrics contain the line "I used to wake on a Saturday, play in the matinée game, get faded on the train down to Adelaide. Headphones playing, looking out at fresh painted walls, Rakim saying we about to get paid in full." This line references the song 'Paid In Full' by influential hip-hop artists Eric B. & Rakim (who were previously mentioned by the Hilltop Hoods in their song 'Recapturing The Vibe' which reached #77 in 2006, and #26 in 2007 as a 'restrung' version). In Richard Kingmsill's Hottest 100 Of All Time in 2009, Eric B. & Rakim's 'Paid In Full (Seven Minutes Of Madness - The Coldcut Remix)' made it to #97.

The countdown also features the moderately rare distinction of having no artists reach consecutive entries. This has also happened in 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Throughout this lower 100 list, 6 tracks charted that were originally recorded through Triple J's 'Like A Version' sessions. This beats 2011 as the previous record holder, when only 4 tracks charted.
