Facts for 2011

The 2011 Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time was a special Hottest 100 held in July of 2011. It was the sixth Hottest 100 of All Time countdown, but the first one not dedicated to single songs.

The Countdown

The countdown took place in July of 2011 and featured a mixture of 68 different artists.

Although it is not an official yearly countdown, Powderfinger's #1 position marks the 3rd time the band has been at the top of a Hottest 100, and it marks 4 times for frontman Bernard Fanning.

Every one of Silverchair's studio albums were featured in the countdown.

While Powderfinger celebrated the 3rd time at the #1 position of a Hottest 100, The Cat Empire's 'Two Shoes' marks the 3rd time that the band has made it to number 100 in a countdown. They previously reached this minor milestone in 2003 and 2005.
Their song which reached #100 in 2005, 'Party Started', was featured on 'Two Shoes'.

At #75, Skyhooks featured with their album 'Living In The 70’s'. This album contains the track 'You Just Like Me 'Cos I'm Good In Bed', which was the very first song ever played on Triple J (then known as 2JJ or Double J), on September 1, 1974.

The countdown was announced in a way similar to that of the 2009 All Time countdown.
The countdown began on Tuesday, 28th of June, with announcers revealing 20 albums each day, and playing select albums at 2pm and 8pm daily, and then one album a day being played on the weekends of the 1st and 2nd of July.
Starting Monday 3rd of July, 3 albums each day were played, starting with #20 until Sunday July 10th when the top 2 albums were announced.
