About The CD

The 2009 Hottest 100 of All Time compilation album was released on August 28th, 2009. It was the first compilation of a Hottest 100 of All Time countdown (despite it being the fifth countdown of that kind), and contained 36 songs.

When it was announced that John Lennon's 'Imagine' had made the countdown, the announcers stated the fact that Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, had given the rights for the song to be included on the compilation album. However, on August 30th, Richard Kingsmill stated via Twitter that both Yoko Ono and Courtney Love, the copyright holder for the works of Nirvana, would only allow the songs to be included providing they were track #1. Lennon's 'Imagine' was ultimately left out to appease the situation.
