About The CD
The 1998 Hottest 100 compilation album was released on July 5th, 1999. It was the sixth compilation of a Hottest 100 countdown and contained 36 songs on two discs, featuring the same tracklisting as its cassette counterpart. It was released at the same time as the Triple J Hotbox, contained this CD, and space for the previous Hottest 100 volumes.
Quite possibly due to licensing issues, the CD does not contain the #1 song, 'Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)', by The Offspring.
The absence of the number one track may be semi-explained by the quote from Korn in the liner notes; We don't normally release tracks for compilations, but as Triple J listeners are at the heart of the band's fan base and voted for us, we thought it would be cool to give you the D.O.S.E Woollyback Remix instead.
The Spanish words on the cover, 'Los Mejores Cien', translate into 'The Best Hundred.'
Additionally, the tracklisting for the CD spells Fatboy Slim's 'The Rockafeller Skank' as 'The Rockafella Skank'.
